Huronia CCI Conference Preview
With the 2013 Condo Conference and AGM hosted by the Huronia Chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute just one day away, members of the Elia Associates team share what they are looking forward to taking in tomorrow:
Patricia Elia is looking forward to Frank Baillie’s presentation on Using Websites as a Communication Tool for Condos:
“The internet makes a website a powerful and cost accessible tool in a condominium's communication strategy. Is a website worth it? I think so but I have seen examples where they may create more risk than value. I am really looking forward to understanding how to use this tool more effectively and consistently so that a website can reflect the active life of a condominium. I am also curious to know what other communication tools may mesh well with a website. See you on the 11th!”
Antoni Casalinuovo is looking forward to Denise Lash’s presentation on Director’s Liability:
“I am looking forward to the discussion of directors’ liability at the CCI Huronia Conference as there has been new developments in the case law for that area which show how significant the consequences can be when the good faith obligation is breached.”
Ashley Winberg is looking forward to Steve Harris’ presentation on Grounds Maintenance and the new Pesticides Act:
“The Ontario Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Act came into effect in 2009 with certain provisions being phased over two to three years. As all of the provisions in the Act are now in effect, I look forward to hearing how these new comprehensive restrictions on law and garden pesticides will alter how condominium corporations care for their landscaping.”
Marc Bhalla is looking forward to hearing The Honourable Minister MacCharles speak on the Government of Ontario’s legislative review:
“Last year, I had the privilege of speaking at the conference about the Government of Ontario’s review of the province’s condominium legislation. I was pleased to learn that this year Minister MacCharles will be attending as a guest speaker and look forward to hearing firsthand about the progress that has been made.”
Richard Elia will be speaking tomorrow on Cost Recovery on Common Expense Collections as part of the Rapid Fire Panel Discussion commencing at 3:30pm
