2015 Your Condo, Your Community Condo Conference Preview

The annual Your Condo, Your Community Condominium Conference and Trade Show hosted by the Golden Horseshoe Chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute is taking place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Hamilton Convention Centre (1 Summers Lane, Hamilton).

Patricia Elia, Marc Bhalla and Ashley Winberg will be speaking at this conference and several members of our team will be attending.

"The Your Condo, Your Community conference is something that I look forward to every spring.  This year, I am particularly looking forward to the Plenary Session taking place from 9am to 9:45am on Saturday, May 30th as I know that much planning has gone into ensuring that this year’s conference introduction provides everyone in attendance with a great overview of the content being presented throughout the day in a thought provoking and fun way.  It will certainly be worthwhile to arrive at the Conference bright and early this year!"  - Marc Bhalla

"I am looking forward to participating as a speaker in the condominium management session at the upcoming conference. The session will include a discussion pertaining to the role of the Board in relation to management, including when the Board should instruct management to seek the assistance of professionals, such as engineers, auditors and lawyers.  Our session will provide new (and gently aged) Board members with tips on how they can use the assistance of their property management and other professionals in the most efficient manner in meeting their duty of care and advancing the 'communal' best interests of the condo."  - Ashley Winberg

"Our office thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at last year’s CCI-GHC “Your Condo, Your Community” Conference and I am eager to see what this year’s condo conference has in store for us!  I am looking forward to hearing and meeting a variety of exceptional speakers.  I always enjoy meeting new people while exploring the tradeshow portion of the conference. See you there!"  - Megan Molloy

"This will be my third time attending a CCI conference, but my first time in Hamilton for the Golden Horseshoe Chapter. I always look forward to the wine and cheese since it’s a great way to network with experts in various fields. I’m also interested in the learning sessions and acquiring more knowledge and information about the condominium industry."  - Victor Yee

Additional details on Patricia, Marc and Ashley's presentations:

Do you ‘Know Your Boundaries?’ Patricia Elia will be moderating Session 3B with speakers Michael Le Page, Maurice Cheveldayoff and Josh Milgrom in helping to identify how important boundaries are when living in a condominium corporation. Whether you are an owner, director or property manager, this will be a useful session for you if you aren’t too sure where not only the physical boundaries are but, more importantly, the “boundaries” between the rights and obligations of residents, owners and directors. Catch this session from 1:30pm- 2:30pm.

Condominium Management is essential for many condominium corporations.  Whether you’re a board member, property manager or just interested in discovering how to effectively run a condominium corporation, this session will prove insightful.  Ashley Winberg will be speaking alongside Ray Wilson and Pamela Smuts from 3pm-4pm in Session 4A.

The Nuisance of Noise & the Trouble with Silence – Managing Conflict in Today’s Condo Community will take place at 3-4pm as Session 4B.  Marc Bhalla will be moderating speakers Sally-Anne Dooman, Chris Jaglowitz & Colm Brannigan as they present a thought-provoking session on dispute resolution which will tackle some of the challenging issues that give rise to conflict in condo communities today.  The expert panel will speak to society’s growing intolerance of sexism, racism and prejudice applied to the condominium setting and highlight lessons from recent headlines, including alleged bad conduct of celebrities and the provincial government’s new campaign on harassment and mental health awareness initiatives.

Elia Associates and CONDOMEDIATORS.ca will also be present at our booth on the exhibition floor.
