Preview of the 18th Annual Condominium Conference
The Elia Associates team is looking forward to the 18th Annual CCI-T/ACMO Condominium Conference taking place on November 7 and 8, 2014 at the Toronto Congress Centre:
Patricia Elia
Senior Lawyer
"Wow, where did the year go between conferences! Time flies as we get older. And yet it is a great opportunity to reflect on the growth being experienced by the condominium industry, provincially and nationally – a shout out to all my CCI colleagues coming into Toronto!
Condominiums are a powerful economic engine in the Ontario economy – look at how many services and jobs we are all creating by being a part of condominium living. As condominiums increase in number and become more complex communities, there is so much more to learn about and be aware of. Caselaw changes alone are significant and yetthere is so much in law – from Tarion to human rights – to be on top of and many perspectives to hear from.
On my own panel, I am so thankful for the depth and knowledge of our speakers and their varied perspectives – they are people who have practical experience and are true leaders. As always I am looking forward to gathering more information, debating issues with my colleagues and sharing our experiences in the practice of law. Thanks to all the organizers at both ACMO and CCI for putting their energies into what should be a bigger and better conference. I look forward to seeing you all there! We are Condocentric.ca."
Angela Quistini
Law Clerk
"I am looking forward to attending the conference as it will be my first time attending in Toronto. The Pub night on Thursday seems like a great way to start off the conference, see you there!"
Marc Bhalla
Mediator
"In the 12 years that I have been going to the annual ACMO/CCI-T Condo Conference, I always find myself amazed when I reflect upon how much it has grown. To me, nothing highlights the Conference’s growth over the years quite like the trade floor, which I understand has once again sold out. In addition to hanging out at our booth, I enjoy walking the floor to take in the array of exhibitors, inevitably running into old friends in the process. This year, I am particularly looking forward to seeing some new faces as a Tradeshow-only pass is being offered for Saturday, November 8th.
While there are always tough decisions to make with so many interesting sessions being presented at the same time, this year I am particularly looking forward to Session 3A – Lessons Learned: Condominium Fraud. While much information has been circulated over the years in respect of the 2011 discovery of fraud involving Manzoor Moorshed Khan, having those directly involved share their insights will surely be fascinating."
Antoni Casalinuovo
Lawyer
"What I am most looking forward to is Session 2A: Rapid Fire Technology with moderator Marc Bhalla because it helps keeps me up- to- date on the latest technology."
Roger Francis
Law Clerk
"As a first time conference attendee, I look forward to acquiring more knowledge and information about the condominium industry in general. I also am looking forward to the networking experience of meeting other professionals from all the different sectors of our practice specialty. I am particularly interested in attending Session 2A: Rapid Fire Technology, so as to have a better understanding of the industry’s direction in this area."
Victor Yee
Student-at-Law
"I’m looking forward to seeing the various people of Toronto’s thriving condominium industry come together and get to know each other’s concerns, interests, and goals. Whether it’s through interacting with fellow service providers or fellow condominium directors, the annual CCI-T/ACMO Conference provides a wonderful opportunity for me to better understand the industry as a whole. I look forward to helping us all “reach new heights”!"
Ashley Winberg
Lawyer
"Every year, I look forward to the CCI-T/ACMO Conference because it gives me a chance to expand my learning, meet new people and catch up with old friends. In particular, I’m looking forward to Session 3B: Aging in Place; as more condominiums are built and the population of this province continues to age, issues pertaining to senior living are becoming of paramount importance. I can’t wait to see what our industry has to offer!"
Megan Molloy
Lawyer
"I am looking forward to an exciting and insightful weekend at the upcoming 18th Annual ACMO / CCI-T Condominium Conference! As a digital media enthusiast, I am especially interested in listening Session 2A: Rapid Fire Technology and learning about how new innovations are impacting condominium communities. I also enjoy the tradeshow portion of the Conference and look forward to seeing familiar faces at our booth!"
Andrew Prevost
Lawyer
"With this year’s ACMO/CCI-T Conference just around the corner, I am most looking forward to the chance to gather with experienced professionals from across the province to share ideas and knowledge about how we can improve our industry. I am particularly interested in Session 3B: Aging in Place and Session 4A: Mental Health Issues, as increasing awareness of these facts of life are reshaping the way our communities work and live."
